Municipal Unions - Why?

Don't believe the national media pundits – WE THE PEOPLE are winning in Wisconsin and public opinion in Wisconsin stands with Governor Walker.

As one might expect, the Left is getting crazy, hysterical. While discussing government unions, Minnesota Democrat Congressman Keith Ellison actually said, "workers rights are human rights."  Then there was Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio said "collective bargaining is a moral issue."  And then to top off all the lunatics there was Massachusetts Democrat Michael Capuano who told a crowd: "you need to get out on the streets and get a little bloody when necessary."  He, when confronted about this statement, did have the decency to apologize.

Remember, the private working sector is less then 8% union while the government sector is over 90% union – also, government unions were against the law up until the 1960’s when a certain President changed the rules by Executive Order, not a vote and law change initiated in the people’s House of Representatives where the Constitution mandates, but rather by a cold, political decision to change the landscape and gain control of some working people and their millions of dollars in dues for the advancement of a political agenda – that is not the American way!

Here's the truth that we need to keep spreading: Governor Walker is simply repairing the Wisconsin budget by reining in the overly generous pension and benefits packages that are far beyond what people in the private sector receive.  He's also ending the government union collective bargaining that has been the chief reason why union benefits and pensions have gotten so out of control.

The choices are simple: Small Government and Large Liberty or Big Government and Limited/No Liberty.

Government unions were illegal back in the day because they use to know that letting people who have no financial stake in the game (politicians) negotiate with those who could give them large bags of money (union bosses) was probably not the right thing to do – but somehow we forgot that and allowed unions to gain a foothold within our governments across the country – from small town to large city to Washington D.C. – now in D.C. the unions can not negotiate wages and benefits (just like they are trying to do in Wisconsin now) but somehow the unions have still bought and paid for many politicians who in-turn give them substantial pay raises and even bigger pension plans that WE the citizenry must pay for regardless of how the individual, the State or the Nation is doing economically.

Funny how the number one growing segment of employment in our country the past two years has been the government sector, hmmm…why do you think?
